Finding the deriv of 4/x^3? Quotient rule?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\Large \frac{1}{x^3}\quad=\quad x^{-3}\]

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Quotient rule: That could work, but no need for that. Use @zepdrix 's explanation.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The 4 is just a constant, pull it off to the side. You certainly COULD apply the quotient rule :) But it's not necessary.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Power Rule from the last form I wrote.
