how many numbers between 1 and 24 are divisible by 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
favourable events=3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24
number of favourable events=8
total no. of events=24
p=favourable /total events

the answer would be 3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
there are 8 numbers between 1 and 24 that are divisible by 3.
And there are a total of 24 slips of paper.
So it is 8/24 which reduces to what ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
8/24 reduces to what ?

\[please note probability is always \le 1\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
8 goes into its self 1 time and 8 goes into 24 3 times
OpenStudy (anonymous):
exactly.....so it is 1/3 probability of drawing a slip of paper with a number divisible by 3.

ok...I obviously didn't pay attention in class...thanks
