anyone know how to graph parametric equations if you know how to comment please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm. What's the question? @llkramer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph each pair of parametric equations. x = 3 sin^3t y = 3 cos^3t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and I have like 10 so I would like to learn how :)

OpenStudy (ranga):

One way would be to eliminate the parameter t and find a direct relation between x and y. A second way would be to form a table with a few different values of t and finding the corresponding x and y values: t = t1, t2, t3, .... x = x1, x2, x3, .... y = y1, y2, y3, ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you just define the x,y parts separatly; rangas table method would be my idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would I start to do that

OpenStudy (amistre64):

let t=0, what is x,y? let t=1, what is x,y? let t=2, what is x,y? etc ... or use values of t that are more easily determined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhh ok awesome

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i programed a spirograph using parameters :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woooooooooa that's sweet how do I use it when I have x and y values?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hmm, i could prolly code something up for that. The spirograph is to specific to; it just uses the same principles is all.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

heheh, i like this one ..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

without some way to input a specific function and parse it; i wouldnt be able to do anything other than just this particular problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow that's sweet can you do that for a x and y one :)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if I design a dropdown menu for some basic trig function to pick ... i dont see why not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have visited a couple sites and known work with what I type in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im off to a friends house did 5 assignments today :) have a great weekand thanks amistre

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck, im working on modifying this .. gives me something to do lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ill fan you and let me know :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

heres what i got ... it cant modify the inner functions yet ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

oh, those are cubes ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i cant get the nice lines to draw, only points ... bummer
