Which of the following is true about the function below? No one in my family has been able to help me with this one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank yoou so much guys :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am pretty sure it is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is true about the domain of a square root?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but then again, i do not get this concept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there any way you could walk me through the steps? because i have no idea :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well you can't take the square root of a negative number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which means that -11 would not work because -11 + 10 is -1. Same with -12 , -13 etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so A is false because -infinity doesnt work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if A is false because infinity doesnt work, wouldnt B be false too?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D is also incorrect because the domain cannot = -10 or you would be dividing by 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true, True, so would it be C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B and C are still choices we havent looked at range yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, my bad :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets throw -9 in for x what do we get as the range?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, would B be right? the range in C is the same as the range in A, so it couldnt be right, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-19?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, waittt, it would be the square root of 19? sorry i really dont know math too well..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plugging more numbers in for x you find that the range never goes negative... so what is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!
