The mean GPA in a class of 14 students is 3.12. One student, whose GPA is 2.41, drops the class. Two new students, whose GPAs are 3.97 and 4.26, join the class. What is the new mean GPA of the class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The total GPS start out as: \[ 14\times 3.12 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then that total is lowered by \(2.41\) and raised by \(3.97+4.26\). The new number of students after this is \(15\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So combining this all together: \[ 15\overline{x}=14(3.12) -2.41+3.97+4.26 \]Just find \(\overline{x}\).
