URGENT
What is the emergency?
Suppose that a fisherman has a 0.2 probability of catching a fish on any day he goes out fishing. What is the probability of him catching at least one fish during a 10 day period?
assuming you mean .2%, you would just multiply .2 by 10 and get a 2% chance. This is a pretty bad fisherman.
The probability of the fisherman catching at least one fish is the probability of not catching 0 fish. I say this because it is easy to calculate the probability of catching 0 fish. It's much easier than calculating the probability of catching 1 fish + probability of 2 fish + ...
The probability of catching no fish is \(1-0.2\).
So for this to happen 10 days is \((1-0.2)^{10}\). So this is the probability of catching 0 fish. To make it the probability of not catching 0 fish, we have \(1-(1-0.2)^{10}\)
@rimshaa Does this make sense?
yes it does. thank you so much for your help :)
