what is microbial genomics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Genomics simply refers to the mapping and study of the genome. Similar to how we have mapped the human genome, we do the same for many types of organisms. In this case, microbial genomics would refer to microbes, or microscopic organisms. Genes and base-pair combinations in other organisms can sometimes become extremely relevant to understanding our own complexity.
