OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should I write a fraction as 10/9 or 1 1/9? Help will be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks, ~Micah K.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 1/9, they're the same thing though. So I do not know why it should matter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BTW Thank you for you help on my last question. :)

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Writing as a mixed number or an improper fraction really depends if the problem says to leave it as improper or as a mixed number....

OpenStudy (shamil98):

But usually they say to write it as a mixed number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am taking an online course, and my answers need to be typed in. If I don't type in the exact answer, I get that question wrong. Therefore, this is very important.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually \(1\tfrac{1}{9}\) is not a fraction they are certainly equal, but a fraction is one integer divided (over) another integer

OpenStudy (shamil98):

in that case do 10/9

OpenStudy (shamil98):

It might misinterpret 1 1/9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Mixed number is technically more correct, but usually it doesn't really matter!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, you're probably right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wish I could give all of you medals, but I pretty sure that shami98 gave the most thorough answer..... Thanks for all of your help, everyone! :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anytime!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, @SolomonZelman! :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anytime! Absolutely no problem!
