How is it that soluble proteins in the ER can be selectively recruited into vesicles destined for the Golgi?

according to what i know all proteins from the ER are transported to the golgi from where they are modified, sorted and transported. so there is no selective transport...

Yes shrutipande is right , and just to add another thing: the protein will remain in ER if it has a special sequence called KDEL, otherwise it will be transported automatically to golgi
