elements in their ground and excited state

OpenStudy (aaronq):

what about them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so when you have an electron configuration in their excited state, how do you tell what element it is?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

count the number of electrons, if the atom is neutral then the number of electrons = the number of protons (hence it's identity). If it's an ion, then subtract/add accordingly.

okay thank you!!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem !
