Can someone explain Descartes' rule of signs to me?.. and how I would apply it?

Descartes' Rule of Signs is helpful for finding the zeroes of a polynomial. If you have a graphing calculator, it's highly useless because you're gonna waste time doing guess-n-check work to find the zeroes. If you HAVE to use it , the rule is quite simple.
