how to find missing term in polynomial? x2 + __ + 9

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

assuming you are finding perfect square polynomials. the basic form of it is: x^2 + 2xy + y^2 for your equation: x^2 + 2x(y)+ 9 to find y from y^2 = 9 3*3 = 9 so y by itself is 3 so: x^2 +2*3*x + 9 then simplify is your answer.
