6a-36=27 2a-36=11

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

4a=16 a=4

OpenStudy (phi):

divide the first equation by 3: that means divide both sides, and all terms by 3

OK thanks you guys!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry ikram try again

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are solving a system of equations, you will see the first equation becomes 2a - 12 = 9 and the 2nd equation is 2a -36 = 11

OpenStudy (phi):

you can simplify both equations. add +12 to both sides of the 1st equation 2a-12+12= 9+12 2a = 21 add +36 to both sides of the 2nd equation 2a-36+36= 11+36 2a= 47 the first equation says 2 times a is 21 the 2nd equation says 2 times a is 47 what a works for both ?

those 2 a's are not equal to each other????
