Please help me. Medals awarded which ordered pair is a solution to the system? system: y > -2 x + y < 4 A. (-3,5) B. (0,4) C. (-2,-3) D.(1,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take each choice and see which works; For example, choice (A)... x = -3 and y =5..does this work for both inequalities? Well, y > -5 which is good as we have y = 5; and is -3+5<4, yes it is..so A is a solution. Check that the other pais do NOT work for both inequalities.

hartnn (hartnn):

start plugging in each point and check whether both inequality satisfies. i'll do the last one, you do the 1st, deal ? 1,4 -----> x=1, y=4 y>-2 4>-2 ---> TRUE x+y<4 1+4<4 5<4 --->FALSE so last option is not correct. got this ?

hartnn answer is good!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-3,5) 5 > -2 true -3 + -2 = -1 -1< 4 trueee

hartnn (hartnn):

good work! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much 1 :)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome so much 1 :)

hartnn (hartnn):

but actually x+y = =3+5 = 2 and 2<4 is trueee
