I need to write an introductory sentence on a research paper on Mayan, Incan, and Aztec civilizations. What could the intro sentence be? Please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello. What kind of research paper? Do you have a thesis yet? Any citations, or basic info?

OpenStudy (mwhit2101):

@connieavaughn I don't know...just a regular research paper and it's already written but it needs a good introductory sentence and I'm having trouble thinking of one. So some basic info on the Mayans Incans and Aztec civs is that they were all very strong and powerful dictatorship civilizations hundreds or thousands of years ago. I'm thinking the starting paragraph or sentence should say something about how they were very powerful civilizations.... And I changed my mind I think it should be an introductory paragraph (just 3 simple sentences is fine) because that would look better but yeah...anyway...

Any paper needs a purpose. What is the purpose? What are you trying to prove or explain?Who is your audience? In your research you should have found out if it was hundreds or thousands of years. I agree with the introductory paragraph idea and the powerful dictatorship mention. What about these civies are similar? Dig deeper. I would be happy to read what you have if you like.

@connieavaughn Hi! okay so I got something for the introduction paragraph. Tell me how this is please: What were the Mayan, Incan, and Aztec civilizations? Where were these civilizations located? What were the cultures like? What were the people of each civilization good at? Were these people religious? What about the government…was there a government? Did it run a dictatorship or did they run a democratic republic? How long did these civilizations last? Why did they fall? Well, you are about to know. Or could I replace that last sentence with something? Like, does it sound cheesy? Or is having it in that question like form just dumb over-all? Thanks.
