I'm currently brainstorming ideas for my allegory assignment that is supposed to "comment on contemporary society." I want to write about how much the government controls the general public, and most people don't think twice. So my idea for characters is having the Father (government) control what his two or three children (citizens) learn and do.

I thought you could use a teacher as the government and have the pupils as citizens.

You could make your argument more interesting by vividly using classroom symbolism, characters, terminology and imagery.
