OpenStudy (doggy):

I apologize, i don't

OpenStudy (doggy):

Umm not sure.. try asking some of the moderators

OpenStudy (doggy):

one sec

OpenStudy (doggy):

@hartnn @myininaya

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The little cross-lines mean those lines are congruent and the little arcs mean those angles are congruent. That helps you a lot.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

I know that but how do I prove that the line down the middle is a perpendicular bisector.

hartnn (hartnn):

it is not perpendicular bisector. tell me if you know, sum of all angles in a triangle = .... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=43 degrees and x=90 degrees

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

180 @hartnn

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

How did you get that though @croslali ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait lemme explain

hartnn (hartnn):

correct! so, you know A = 2y, right ? and A+B+C = 180 so ,whats angle B in terms of y ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see .. you that one angle of the triangle is 47 degrees ... but since ab=ac even angle ABC becomes 47 degrees

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

I dont know in terms of y, but I do know B is 47 since it is isosceles. @hartnn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now use the angle sum rule for the entire triangle we get 47+47+2y=180 when we equate we get y=43

hartnn (hartnn):

A+B+C = 180 2y + B + 47 = 180 and we know B = 47 so, 2y +47+47 =180 you can easily find y from here :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then again use angle sum rule for that small triangle ... and you will get 47+y+x=180 that is 47+43+x=180 upon simplification we get x=90

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

Okayso now I know how to get y, but how do I prove x is equal to 90 degrees

hartnn (hartnn):

@croslali why are you in so much hurry to give out answers and steps ?

hartnn (hartnn):

in triangle ABD you know 2 angles out of 3

hartnn (hartnn):

so just use sum of angles = 180 and find the 3rd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry hartnn .. im only 16 i dont have patience .. i try alot but my phone is very tiny to type in

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

Okay. Thank you both so much!! @hartnn @croslali

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after you find y then put the value of y in the the triangle abd and use angle sum rule again

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will try to give the answers slowly hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

thanks for understanding :) and don't give out answers, guide them through it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey wait i got a mail that says i got a warning
