what is the meaning of zheben

Hi I am just a raw beginner zhe with a falling tone over E suggest the character this进 the second suggest ben in pinyin or 本 which is a character that suggest a number of books and etc one would expect to see the word shou (book) as well. for example wo zhe Ben shou or我进本书 meaning this is my book.

Ryan, it depends on the actual characters. In the most elementary cases, zhe4ben3 is usually 这本. Helen was correct on the translation, but incorrect on the characters. 这本 is ordinarally followed by 书 (shu1) to form 这本书, which means "this book". 本 (ben3) is the measured work for 书 (shu1)。

You means zhe4 ben3? zheben, means 这本. zhe3(这), means this. ben3(本)， means a kind of measurement. We usually say, zhe4 ben3 shu1，这本书。这本笔记。
