5x – 7y = ½ Standard form is: Ax + By = C In this case, A = 5, B = -7, and C = ½. But ½ is not an integer! So you multiply everything by two. So then you get: 10x – 14y = 1 A = 10, B = -14, C = 1 Right? So then everything is an integer, and the greatest common factor is 1.
