What are the factors of 5x2 − x − 6? (5x − 6)(x + 1) (5x − 1)(x + 6) (5x − 3)(x + 2) (5x − 2)(x + 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For this you have to split the equation 5X^2 - X -6, to do that you have to split the coefficient of the X term (in this case the coefficient = -1) the two number when multiplied give you a value of (5* -6 = -30). So you can write -X as (-6X + 5X).

A?

Now you can rewrite the equation as follows 5X^2+5X-6X-6 which can be further simplified as 5X*(X+1) - 6X*(X+1)

So ya you are correct!
