what is the solution of the system of inequalities {y ≥ x ^ 2 + 6 * x + 10 {y <- x ^ 2 - 8 * x - 14

A

B

C

D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

check the equations, second equation must have a MINUS sign before x^2 :- {y ≥ x ^ 2 + 6 * x + 10 {y < \(\color{red}{-}\)x ^ 2 - 8 * x - 14

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but how would you figure out how to graph it ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

first figure out which one opens UP, and which one opens DOWN

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u knw how to tell, whether a quadratic opens UP/DOWN looking at its equaiton right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind of not really

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

we just have to look at x^2 coeffecient :- ``` if it is POSITIVE, then the quadratic opens UP if it is NEGATIVE, it opens DOWN. ```

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

use that info, and can u tell me which one opens UP and which one opens DOWN ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so all of them open up and down right ? thats what the graphs show

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

the graph has TWO quadratics, one is opening UP one is opening DOWN
