I dont understand , Help ? What is the solution of the following system? 3x+3y=10 -9x-9y=-30

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok.. so multiply the 1st equation by 3 and add the new equation to the 2nd equation. What do you get...?

OpenStudy (otonogold):

Im confused. @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok divide the 2nd equation by -3 you get 3x + 3y = 10 so what do you notice....

OpenStudy (otonogold):

Oh they end up as the same equation at the first one.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

correct... so the 2nd equation is just a multiple of the 1st... so they are the same line.... now you can comment on the solutions.

OpenStudy (otonogold):

Thank you :)
