7 + (-3x2) for x = 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distribut first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2 is a power btw.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Or you can just replace. 7 + [-3(0)^2]

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Indeed. x being 0 leaves everything in the parenthesis being equivalent to 0 so now we have: 7 + (0) Which is obviously just 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a positve times a negitive is a positive right?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

No, positive times positive is negative, and negative times negative is positive. It gets confusing so don't feel bad :3

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

positive times negative is negative sorry

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Typo >.>

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Chibi is right. Anyway, let me explain in more detail. [-3(0)^2] You do exponent first, since order of operation say so. 0^2 can be written as 0 * 0. 0 * 0 = 0. (That's a lot of zero') Now you have [-3*0]. And we all know that anything multiply by zero is zero. So now you have 7 + [0]. 7 + 0 is 7.
