To reduce flood in the questions section, after I answer this please just reply with your questions under my answer. :) Germany went through Belgium in oder to outflank the French armies and quickly capture Paris. The Schlieffen Plan, as it was know, called for this to take 39 days and then for France to declare defeat on day 42, thus ending the threat in the West. They figured that if France fell quickly enough, Britain wouldn't see the point in sending troops to assist France. The answer is A. -Source, Google+Brain=What you just read.
