Please help! What is the general form of the equation of the line shown? https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/3/92a.gif x + y - 2 = 0 x - y - 2 = 0 x + y + 2 = 0

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

do you understand how slope-intercept formula works? if you do, it might be easier to look at the given options that way.

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

the slope-intercept formula is y=mx+b right??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes :) so... x + y - 2 = 0 => y = -x + 2 x - y - 2 = 0 => y = x - 2 x + y + 2 = 0 => y = -x -2 so now which one do you think matches the graph?

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

umm... the last one?? ):

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :) :D

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

omg really?? :D thank you so much!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it was because b = y-intercept = -2 and slope m = -1
