How do you solve this without the counting method? I only know how to multiply when counting numbers. But this only gives you one number? Determine the required number of branches in a tree diagram described below: A tree diagram showing how many ways 3 coins could be flipped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait. Am i just being stupid or is the answer 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because i just realized each coin has 2 sides. meaning 2 possibilities so its just 3*2

Directrix (directrix):

There will be 2 choice for the first coin, then 2 for the second, and 2 for the third. That would be 2*2*2 = 8 ways. I know you need the tree diagram but is the 2*2*2 = 8 ways what you mean by the counting method? @Studykid2016
