( What is the Radius for 32? )... Graph the circle (x + 2)2 + (y + 1)2 = 32. Label the center and at least four points on the circle.
Hint: Rewrite 32 as: \[(\sqrt{32})^{2}\]
The square of a square root = whatever is under the square root
I know. I already did that and got, 5.65 but how would I graph that.. A little over five?
Yeah..just estimate.
6 ? lol
I would go with 5.5 ish for the radius approximation. The center is at (-2,-1). So, start at -2 and move 5.5 units to the left and then to the right in a horizontal motion. Then, start at -1 and move 5.5 units up and then down in a vertical motion. What would those 4 sets of coordinates be?
okay, one moment while I get my coordinates.
Wow, I think I have my coordinates backwards. Ugh!
How?
I named the points incorrectly. What did you get?
okay, so I have the cords. (-2,6.5) , (3, 1.5) , (-2, -4.5) and ( -7 , 1.5 )
Second Attempt
Did we get the same answers?
Check these two.
@dopegyal_
Check graph of coordinates of center on screenshot.
(3.5, -1) , (7.5 , -1)
It look so uneven...
Check this one: (7.5 , -1)
Plus, the center on your screenshot is incorrectly located.
Does that matter? The numbers are still there.
oh I got it. -7, 1.5
I don't know what is being submitted. If you are submitted the graph for grading, then it is wrong. If it is just the numbers that you are submitting, then the graph does not matter, I suppose.
I'm submitting everything. ):
omg.
(-7.5, -1) If you are submitting the graph, then you need to fix the center.
This is the graph I was provided with though, I just screen shot it and pasted it on my paint.
The grid and maybe the circle, yes. But, who wrote the incorrect coordinates of the center of the circle on the graph?
Question: Is this typed in correctly? --> (x + 2)^2 + (y + 1)^2 = SQRT(32)
Yes, the original question is in the screen shot.
Maybe it's just to trick us, and have us thinking outside the box. Lol...
If you want to submit a graph with the center marked in the wrong place, then it's on you. :)
):
Are you supposed to locate the points on the graph? This problem is giving me a headache. ):
Do you have the screenshot on this problem? http://openstudy.com/users/dopegyal_#/updates/525de742e4b0ede9e44ab3aa
Yes, I am supposed to. Here, let me send the screenshot of my work.
That looks correct to me.
What about this: are you supposed to label the four points and give the coordinates on the graph. You put them up top in a list but look at the instructions.
Is this that awesome screenshot program from the other night? I need to put it on my machine if it is.
No. I just did what you told me to do before, with the print screen button.
Okay. Look, what about e-mailing the teacher and finding out if the c(0,0)rdinates of the four points are supposed to be shown on the actual graph or if it is okay just to list them.
Then, we can move on.
Directrix you're overthinking this. You need me to screenshot the directions as well?
He wants the coordinates on the graph, this is why he provided us with it. Not for advertisement.
I already read them. Ask your teacher if I'm overthinking. :) And, is there such a thing as overthinking, I wonder.
Let's move on before I think too much more. :)
Lol. If he says he wants us to graph it.......... I've waisted so much time. ))): I have 10 problems!
Post the next one.
okay(:
