because according to string theory, our entire universe is made of vibrating strings in lower dimension. These motions are also frequent throughout the commercial world, used widely in electricity/physics related areas.
if you can model it with mathematics then you can have computers do your calculations... for example when USA FIREs a nuclear missle to blow up IRAN the IRANIAN intelligence has a computer that immediately detects the path of the missle, as it looks at the acceleleration adn the angle it was lauched at and calculates its trajectery in a fraction of a second because we know equations that govern the trajectory of projectile motion
