I need help with this problem please show the work Factor: 2x^2 -11x +12=0 Thanks (:
This is simple . Do you know how to do it ? I'll help , but I'm not giving you the answer , I'll simply guide you through it .
\[2x ^{2}-11x+12\] This equation without the numbers is \[ax ^{2}+bc+c\] So you need to multiply a*c to find out what you need to factor... In this case that would be 24. Now you need to find 2 factors that multiply to 24 and add up to -11... that would be -8 and -3. Now you have (x-8)(x-3)... but you are not done yet. Now you have to divide the first factor (-8) by a(2) so then you would get. (x-4)... then you place a(2) into the second factor... (2x-3)... Thereforth, your answer would be (x-4)(2x-3). You can FOIL to check your answers.
