1 1/9 as a improper fraction?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

This is easy. The "1", which is a whole number is equal to 9/9. Plus, you already have 1/9. All you have to do is add 9 and 1, do you know what 9 + 1 is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10..

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, so there is your answer, 10/9.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

\[\frac{ 10 }{ 9 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 5/7 ??

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, so you have 2 as a whole number. That is two 7s. 7 + 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To get the improper fraction, you have to multiply the whole number, which in this case is 1 by the denominator, so 9. When you do that, you get 9. Then you add the numerator. So 10. You put this answer as the numerator and keep the denominator the same. So 10/9 would be your answer.

14..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, multiply 2 by the denominator 7. 14. Then take that answer and add 5. That would be your numerator. And keep the same denominator.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

14 + 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

19/7

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Great job @kaylee.carmestro . Can you do the next one on your own, or do you want me to make one up for you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i did it!

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, you can do this by yourself. I \(\color{red}(believe}\) in you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
