Write an equation of the line that passes through (3, 9) and is parallel to the line y = 5x - 15.

Since it wants a line parallel to the equation your slope will remain the same. So the the slope = 5. Now you just need to know the y-intercept in order to write the equation. So you can just plug your coordinate that the line must pass through into y=mx+b. So... 9=5(3)+b... now solve. Your y-intercept is -6. Now you can write the equation... y=5x-6. Done!
