Nancy is very happy with the service at the hotel she is staying in. She wants to tip the room service waiter 15 percent of the food bill, which is $120.75. How much should she tip?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Alright so like I said, a percentage is a fraction of a number where the denominator is 100. And the word "of" translated into mathematical language means times. So here your question says: 15% of food bill So what would you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.15 times $120.75?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Correct.
