@SolomonZelman help please!!! q +12 - 2(q - 22) > 0

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What do you think is your first step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(q -22) = 2q - 44?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Focus on this part pf the equation for a second, can you factor it out. 2(q -22)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2q - 44

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yep! So what does your equation look like right now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

q + 12 - 2q - 44

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I don't get where do you get that from?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Oh, and that is >0 see!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-q + -32 > 0

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

that was a smart calculation right there!!!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I see you are quick thinker, Gooooood

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) -q > -32?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

not exactly, think closer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait -q > 32

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz you have to add 32 to both sides

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

this is not it yet, though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you soooo much!!!!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

not yet!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

this isn't an answer,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

-q>32 or q<-32 which one?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I multiplied by -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

q>-32

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Close, but when you multiple an inequality times a negative number it flips over, becaomes the opposite, from more than to less than and vica versa.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Do you know why is this true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, ok and no

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Think logically, lets say you have 2>-3 right if you multiply by -1 would you be getting -2>3 or -2<3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i get it now, it makes since, that was one of those 'duh-huh' moments

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

cool, more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope that is all for now, I might have some English questions in a moment

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

OK, I might be on there too, i am up to next Thursday in English.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(my work wise)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow, cool, brb
