Solve the following equation: 13 + w over 7 =-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 13 to 7 and -18?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I mean 18, sorry sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then we have 31 + w/7 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then minus 31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w/7 = -31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply by 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w=-217

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But wouldnt i add -18 in the first step instead of 18??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No because -18 plus -18 is -36. -18 plus 18 is zero.
