Which sentence below most strongly suggests that the speaker was underprepared? a. Daniel's ideas were interesting, but the way he paused to sip water after almost every sentence revealed his nervousness. b. The way Daniel shuffled his papers, wiped sweat from his forehead, and drank water continuously revealed his fervent wish to be offstage. c. Daniel wished he had organized his papers before going on stage as their disorder caused him to forget the correct order of his points. d. Daniel was a brilliant scientist but a poor public speaker.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I think it is B, looking at the sentence, it suggests that he is unprepared in many different ways "shuffled his papers" - he didn't have organized paper. "wiped sweat from his forehead" - he was really nervous "drank water continuously" - also suggests that e was too/very nervous "revealed his fervent wish to be offstage"- what can be more obvious than that!.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

@lowcard2, does this help you?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Correct.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! it does.

I did get confused at first and asked myself what does it mean to be prepared, that could mean many different things, and there was the answer. (if you look at any other sentence you would see that although each does say that he is unprepared, it doesn't say it in as many ways and as authentically as the B., Right?) Thank You and Anytime!
