pick any line... in the middle of the page is good, that is going sideways. make it the x-axis

same for the y-axis except it goes up and down

you pick one of the blue lines. It could be any one of them... but one of the lines in the middle is most convenient...

OpenStudy (phi):

You will want it to be one of the printed lines, because you will want to count "steps" away from it. if the axis is not on a blue line, it is hard to guess how far away 1 step is. Here is one way to draw the axes:
