can someone help me I need The standard form equation of my conic below PLEASE HELP WILL GIVE MEDAL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wio have any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation for a sphere in R³ represented in rectangular (Cartesian) coordinates with radius r and center at (x₀, y₀, z₀), is (x - x₀)² + (y - y₀)² + (z - z₀)² = r². So the equation of the sphere of radius 2√6 and center (4, -2, 1) is (x - 4)² + (y - (-2))² + (z - 1)² = (2√6)² which simplifies to (x - 4)² + (y + 2)² + (z - 1)² = 24.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like I understand that but like I really don't get how I can write a equation for a picture!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x₀, y₀, z₀), is (x - x₀)² + (y - y₀)² + (z - z₀)² = r²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that's all I put formy pic is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know? What class is this in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pre calc honors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL. what grade are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me to...but im not taking pre calc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are ya taking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you take online?

Can you please help me?: http://openstudy.com/updates/526082dae4b0c78c62eade37

@amistre64 have any idea

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the equation of a sphere ... center it wherever you want it centered; id pick the origin

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the general form of a conic at the origin, if memory serves: Ax^2 +By^2 +Cz^2 +Dxy +Exz +Fyz +Gxyz +H maybe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like what i dont get is how to do it for a picture

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the picture is 2 dimensional, just determine the radius you want for the ball, and apply it to a circle ... x^2 + y^2 = r^2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you have to overlay a grid, then approximate the values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so could i just say 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4^2 + 4^2= 6^2>
