The equation of a circle is (x + 3)2 + (y + 7)2 = 25. Where is (3, 4) located in relation to the circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3,4) is completely outside the circle, because when you substitute x = 3 and y = 4 into the equation, you get 36 + 121 = 25 or 147 = 25 which we know is not true, but 147 is larget than 25, so it is outside the circle.
