Eulers Method

OpenStudy (asylum15):

Dy/dx = y/x + x^2 - 2 Needed in the form dy/dx = f (x, y)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you have an initial point?

OpenStudy (asylum15):

H = 0.2 Y (1.5)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so, step is .2 , starting x is 1.5; what is the Y value?

OpenStudy (asylum15):

Y (1) = 3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so initial x is 1, and initial y is 3 other than the rote repetition of it all, what are you needing help with?

OpenStudy (asylum15):

I need to get the above equation in dy/dx = f (x, y)

OpenStudy (asylum15):

Y (1) = 3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Y' is already defined Xn+1 = Xn + h Yn+1 = Yn + Y'h

OpenStudy (asylum15):

The equation is already correct?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you posted: Dy/dx = y/x + x^2 - 2 this is already in dy/dx = f(x,y) format .... not too sure what it came from tho

OpenStudy (asylum15):

So I can proceed?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what did you start with? did you arrange it into this dy/dx from something else?

OpenStudy (asylum15):

No, was just given this. I will try it now, thanks!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck ;)
