could you guys tell me about this 555 timer..it's confusing my previous knowledge on comparators..

555 timer primarily consists of two comparators, one transistor and an SR flip-flop. It also has three 5k reistors connected in series from Vcc to Gnd (Hence the name 555) You can see the connections and how 555 timer works by way of an example of an astable circuit using 555 timer in the attached gif file
