The top of the attachment is the problem, and the rest is another persons way of solving. I need to identify what they did wrong and then complete it correctly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factors yu found are 6 and 4 and their sum is 10 and not -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation is x^2-10x-24, so wouldn't that mean I need to find numbers that have a sum equal to -10 and a product of -24?

@Coolsector

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no..yu dont need to think like that...will cause problem when the factors are not real...just solve this using the formula for finding roots of quadratic equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know that formula..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(-b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac})/2a \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

other root will be "-" in place of "+"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with a ,b and c in equation as ax^2+bx+c
