Copy and paste from the last question a function where x is in the exponent is... an exponential function! The base is the number that has the exponent attached to it.

All exponential functions have a variable in the exponent and a base that is a positive real number, other than one. All exponential functions are monotonic (either always increasing or always decreasing). All exponential functions have a horizontal asymptote which is the same as the vertical translation.
