What is the vertex of the graph of g(x) = |x - 9| + 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1382190776101:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-9, 3) (-3, -9) (9, -3) (9, -3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those are my choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(9, -3) (9, -3) There can't be 2 of the same answers. It has to be (9,3).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry! Yeah, it is (9,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

https://www.desmos.com/calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I just did it and I was wondering if the answer is (9,3)....?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LS1088 , @LaceyLeanne , @mayankdevnani

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU LACEY!!!! NOW!? R U SURE!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope! XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dang it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The point is on positive 9 and positive 3........and (x,y) --> (9,3)

Parth (parthkohli):

The vertex is where it either is maximum or minimum. What is the minimum of |x -9|?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where are you stuck @Jonathan1997 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not stuck! I just want to know if (9,3) is right because I solved it and all I just want y'all to check it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer @ParthKohli question that will help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is 9, 3. because the vertex, by definition is the minimum or the maximum, in that case, every x that is less than or greater than 9 will result into higher number, since the absolute value function opens upward, unless a negative sign is put in the beginning, so the value of x must be 9 to result into l0l + 3 or, (9,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I pretty much said that ;D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @Mr.NiceGuy27 i couldn't of explained any better :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU!!!! AND....... Closing question in 3, WAIT!!!! I am going to give Lacey a medal, so Emily, will you give Mr.niceguy a medal and mr.niceguy give emily a medal!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

;D Awh Jon <3 XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lmao... its fine i don't need a medal!!!:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES YOU DO!!!! Mr.NiceGuy27! Pleace awrad this lady a medal! Lol I disturbed her sleep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha:) It's fine i didn't even help lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect! Thanks guys! WAIT!!!!!! @LaceyLeanne I need you to give LS1088 a medal at the top of the page!!
