Solving Equations Don't understand how they got this answer x - 8 + 4x = 4x + 15 5x - 8 = 4x + 15 5x - 8 - 4x = 4x + 15 - 4x x - 8 = 15(What did they do with the 5?) x - 8 + 8 = 15 + 8(Also why did they add instead of subtracting?) x = 23 Is their an shortcut to solving this?

OpenStudy (gorv):

if u add subtract multiply or divide on both side by same no then no change in the ans

OpenStudy (gorv):

let x=y now u add 8 both side x+8= y+8 now see 8 on both sides cancelling each other so eqn is x=Y

I somewhat understand

OpenStudy (gorv):

tell me the doubt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The addition property says that if two expressions are equal, then you can add or subtract anything from the two expressions and the resulting expressions will equal each other nevermind I think i understand

OpenStudy (gorv):

k buddy:)

OpenStudy (gorv):
