Can exponential growth occur in a population of organisms that take a long time to reproduce?

Exponential growth occurs when there are no barriers to growth such as limited resources. The logistic growth model shows growth as it approaches the maximum capacity the environment can sustain; as the population gets closer to the limit, the rate of increase decreases. So, as long as the growth rate continues to increase, it has an exponential growth pattern. ChaCha! - See more at: http://www.chacha.com
