Which of the following is an advantage of using parallax rather than the Doppler effect to determine star distance?

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

This could be para- para- parallax.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

By Doppler effect I assume you mean how light waves shift from red to blue as they travel through an expanding universe. That's very hard to measure in shorter distances. Easier over greater distances. Parallax works very well at short distances, and worse and worse the further away you are.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

Sorry, I always get that backwards, shifts from blue to red, red is lower energy.
