I am almost not expecting any one to help me. (American Government.) 2 questions.
1) Give me a couple of facts about (the definition of) Senator and Representative, and list couple main differences b/w them. 2) Who is the Senator & Representative of GA (nowadays. one Senator and one Rep, please.)
1. Both Senators and Representatives are responsible for representing the people of the states they serve in. This involves voting and writing bills in the United States Congress. There are, however, some major differences between a United States Senator and a Representative, beginning with voting privileges. For example, a Senator has the privilege of voting on whether or not to confirm the President’s judicial nominees; United States Representatives do not have this right or responsibility. Senators and Representatives differ in terms of the numbers present in Congress. There are 100 Senators in Congress; two Senators are allotted for each state. This number is independent of each state’s population. In contrast, the number of United States Representatives a state has is determined by the population of that particular state. There are 435 Representatives in Congress and each state has at least one Representative. Another difference involves the length of time a Senator and a Representative are permitted to serve. A Senator represents his or her state for a six-year term. A Representative, on the other hand, serves for a two-year term. 2. Saxby Chambliss is a US Senator for Georgia and Stacy Abrams is a Representative for Georgia.
1) Senators- - Represent the people in the state the serve. - Decides on confirming (or not) the President's judicial nominees. - 100 senators in congress. (No matter how many people live in state(s) ) -6-year-term 2) Representatives- - Represent the people in the state the serve. - There are 435 Representatives in Congress - 2-year term Saxby Chambliss- Senator. Stacy Abrams -Representative. Do you know one Representative is per how many people (in the state)?
Georgia has 13 Representative for their state. The number of Representatives per state depends on the population although it does't say how many people are served by each Representative. . Representatives also introduce bills and resolutions, offer amendments and serve on committees.
Yes, so how many people would require another rep?
The research i have done does not give that answer, it just gives the amount of representatives per state.
Al right, don't worry about that!
They basically split up the state so that each Representative has about the same number of people. Even though they don't say what the cut off point is to have another Representative.
Al right! Thank You!
You are very welcome.
