Logarithms help

OpenStudy (dls):

Solve for x: \[\LARGE \log_5a.\log_ax=2\] Attempt: \[\LARGE \frac{1}{\log_a5}.\log_ax=2\] \[\LARGE x-5=a^2\] \[\LARGE x=a^2+5\] OR.. \[\LARGE \frac{x}{5}=a^2\] \[\LARGE x=5a^2\]

OpenStudy (dls):

Anyway both are wrong solutions :P what is wrong with them?

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, \(\log_BA = \log A / \log B\) use this for both the terms , and see that log a cancels out.

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

\[\log_{b} a = \frac{ \log_ca }{ \log_cb }\] use the reciprocal of this

hartnn (hartnn):

then its just the matter of using the definition

OpenStudy (dls):

i think i also used the base change formula..what is wrong in my steps?
