OpenStudy (kainui):

Ready the ban hammer @Preetha lol

mathslover (mathslover):

@graysondeblock - Let me remind you about the aim of OpenStudy . OpenStudy's AIM is to develop self problem solving capability and not the dependence over others for help. OpenStudy aims at helping the users out but not in the case of tests or exams as those are made for self assessment and if we will help you out in those questions then that will surely be not a perfect self -assessment. Tests give you a very important image of yourself, how much you have studied during the lecture classes and how much you have practised the questions. Please attempt the test yourself and then if you face any difficulty, we will surely help you. Do have a look at OpenStudy code of conduct : http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

okay here we go a local amusement park charges 21.50 per daily adult ticket and 14.75 per daily childs ticket. a group of 12 people paid 204 for tickets. which sytem of equations could be used to find x. the number of adult tickets puchased and y the number of childrens tickets purchased

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops im sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just see sometimes people ask like 25 questions at a time

mathslover (mathslover):

The point is better explained in the OpenStudy Terms and Conditions. Lemme quote that here : "Posting questions from tests, exams or other third party content may be an infringement of copyrights of the owner of the posted content. In most cases, asking for help on an exam or test, or helping someone during their test or exam, will be considered cheating by the institution or by OpenStudy. OpenStudy reserves the right to remove such content and/or suspend, ban or otherwise remove Users from the system who are suspected of cheating. If you feel there is an error, You may email contact@openstudy with an explanation but You acknowledge that the determination to remove content or suspend, ban or otherwise remove a User from the system is within the sole discretion of Company."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why did that guy say ready the ban hammer?

mathslover (mathslover):

That is also considered as spam @graysondeblock . Those cases are rare when there is no one to report abuse the user or due to some reason mods are busy or not present there. We generally get to know whether the user is just trying to get answer from us or not by getting responses from him... If the asker is involved with us and is giving proper responses then we don't hesitate in helping him out, but if the user is not giving proper responses, then it generally becomes clear that the user is just waiting for direct answers. Many people ask questions here, and it is hard to predict whether the question is a test question or not. Though, we try to involve them in the discussion, if they seem to be in hurry, then probably, they are asking a test question.Though, if they involve in the discussion and have patience, then it makes us sure that they are not at that time attempting any test as tests generally have time limits, and during tests, to involve in discussion is quite tough.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok im sorry. i wont do it again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will i get banned it was an honest mistake

mathslover (mathslover):

@graysondeblock - He was not much serious about that. Though, he actually meant to say that - since you have asked a test question which is against to the OpenStudy Terms and Conditions so you may be banned. But it is not so "always" , as if the user accepts his mistake then generally the user is not banned/suspended or anything ... No problem my friend, you can still ask questions here but not test ones :) We will surely help you out with your every doubts and problems. Thanks for cooperating with us :)

mathslover (mathslover):

Though, it is to @Preetha or mods whether to take an action against the user or not. But, I think since you have accepted your mistake , so no action should be taken against you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure thing. if you would like if i see something like this and there are no mods around i could let them know?

mathslover (mathslover):

If there are no mods around, you can ask the ambassadors (like me, having an encircled A before their usernames) to go there and handle the situation .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok will do thanks for the info.

mathslover (mathslover):

You're welcome. Good Luck and keep coming on OpenStudy! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will i love helping people out.

mathslover (mathslover):

That's great spirit. Go for that, but remember, help them not by giving answers, but by involving them in the discussion. Motivate them to do it themselves, you just have to become a link between answer and the asker :)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@mathslover nice work :)

mathslover (mathslover):

Thanks @skullpatrol :)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@Preetha now that this question is closed may I talk with you?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol @Kainui now you have your own banhammer. ;)
