how do you draw an altitude of a triangle with a compass How do you draw a median of a triangle with a compass?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

for #1, use the construction : perpendicular to a 'line' from 'external point' http://www.mathopenref.com/constperpextpoint.html

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

for #2, use the construction : perpendicular bisector http://www.mathopenref.com/constbisectline.html

Thank you :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) just let me knw if the constructions in that site dont make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

For #2, keep in mind that the construction is for the perpendicular bisector. With that, find the midpoint of a side of the triangle. Then the segment from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side is the median.

i get it thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get the second one whawt about the first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a median is |dw:1382290389917:dw|
